Beijing Lu Daopei Hospital, part of the independent Lu Daopei Medical Group in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, is named for academician Lu Daopei, widely regarded as the father of Chinese bone marrow transplantation. The group — one of the world's largest haematopoietic stem cell transplant networks, performing an estimated 10% of China's annual allogeneic transplant volume — completed its 10,000th transplant in April 2024, reportedly the fastest any centre has reached that milestone. The hospital specialises in leukaemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers, alongside comprehensive stem cell transplantation care.

Peking University People's Hospital opened in 1918 as Peking Central Hospital, the first general hospital in China to be entirely Chinese-financed and Chinese-run, and today serves as the Second Clinical Medical School of Peking University with over 2,600 beds and 1,300 physicians across its campuses. Its Institute of Hematology, established in 1981, is where academician Lu Daopei performed China's first successful allogeneic bone marrow transplant and has ranked first nationally in haematology for eleven consecutive years. The hospital's orthopaedics department, founded in 1944 by Feng Chuanhan — founder of the Chinese Orthopaedic Association — operates one of the largest bone tumour centres of its kind internationally.

Ruijin Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, was founded in 1907 and has grown into a leading Class 3A academic medical centre with close to 2,800 beds across three campuses in Shanghai. It is internationally recognised in haematology: physician-scientists at Ruijin — including Wang Zhenyi, Chen Zhu, and Chen Saijuan — developed the combined all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic trioxide therapy for acute promyelocytic leukaemia, raising five-year survival from roughly 10% to over 97% and reshaping leukaemia treatment worldwide. The hospital completed a DNV DIAS international accreditation audit in 2025, recognised by insurers in more than 130 countries, and also maintains strong programmes in endocrinology and minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery.
