Overview

Structured, specialist-led management for patients with CKD stages 3–5, focused on slowing disease progression, managing complications (anemia, bone disease, hypertension), and optimizing preparation for renal replacement therapy. Access experienced nephrologists at accredited centers in India and Thailand for a fraction of the cost of equivalent care in Europe or North America.

Your case is matched to a centre on the basis of clinical outcome data, not marketing. We coordinate every step — from pre-operative work-up to post-treatment follow-up — with a dedicated care coordinator.

What's included

Comprehensive nephrology consultation with review of all prior investigations and medications
Full CKD workup: eGFR, urine ACR, electrolytes, bone profile, CBC, parathyroid hormone
Personalized CKD management plan: medication optimization, blood pressure targets, dietary plan
Complication management: anemia, acidosis, hyperphosphatemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism
Renal dietitian consultation with individualized low-protein, low-potassium dietary guidance
Discharge report with long-term CKD management roadmap for home nephrologist

Costs are indicative estimates and vary by procedure specifics, hospital, and clinical complexity. Request a personalised estimate for your specific case.

Cost & recovery by procedure

This treatment category covers several different operations with different levels of invasiveness, recovery times, and costs. The country averages above blend all of them together — use the breakdown below for a more realistic, procedure-specific estimate.

CKD Specialist Assessment & Workup

A comprehensive nephrology work-up establishes the exact CKD stage using estimated GFR (eGFR), urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio, electrolytes, and kidney imaging, and identifies the underlying cause (diabetes, hypertension, glomerular disease, or other). This baseline assessment drives every subsequent decision about medication, diet, and timing of renal replacement therapy.

Typical recovery · Ongoing / reassessed periodically

The initial work-up is typically completed within 2–4 days as an outpatient, combining blood and urine tests with an ultrasound and a specialist consultation. Follow-up testing is then scheduled every 3–6 months for stage 3 CKD and every 1–3 months for stage 4–5, to track the rate of eGFR decline and catch complications early; results are shared with your home nephrologist for continuity of care.

CKD Complication Management

As CKD progresses it commonly causes anaemia (from reduced erythropoietin production), mineral and bone disorder (from impaired vitamin D activation and phosphate retention), and metabolic acidosis. Treatment combines erythropoiesis-stimulating agents or iron, phosphate binders and active vitamin D analogues, and oral bicarbonate, titrated to regular blood levels.

Typical recovery · Ongoing / lifelong monitoring

Haemoglobin, iron studies, calcium, phosphate, parathyroid hormone, and bicarbonate are rechecked every 1–3 months once treatment starts, with doses adjusted at each review. Most patients notice improved energy within weeks of correcting anaemia, while bone and mineral markers take several months to stabilise; missed monitoring is the most common cause of complications worsening unnoticed.

Pre-Dialysis Preparation & Planning

For patients approaching stage 5 (eGFR under 15–20), pre-dialysis planning includes counselling on renal replacement options (haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or pre-emptive transplant), timely creation of vascular access such as an AV fistula, and vaccination and nutritional preparation, ideally started 6–12 months before dialysis is expected to be needed.

Typical recovery · One-time planning process, several months

AV fistula creation is a minor day-case surgical procedure under local anaesthesia, but the fistula needs 6–12 weeks to “mature” before it can be safely used for dialysis, so timing is planned well in advance. Regular nephrology review continues throughout this period to fine-tune the transition date, and patients who complete pre-dialysis education have significantly fewer emergency dialysis starts and hospitalisations.

India

$800–$2,000 for fistula creation and planning

Turkey

$1,200–$3,000 for fistula creation and planning

Frequently asked questions

Patients at CKD stage 3b (eGFR 30–44) or beyond benefit most from specialist care, as this is when the risk of progression to ESRD and complications (anemia, bone disease, cardiovascular events) increases significantly. However, if you lack access to a nephrologist at home or have been told your CKD is progressing faster than expected, earlier specialist input is valuable. Patients at stage 4–5 who are approaching the need for dialysis particularly benefit from proactive pre-ESRD planning, including AV fistula creation — ideally 6–12 months before dialysis is needed. Our partner nephrologists will review your trajectory and help you decide on the optimal timing and modality of renal replacement therapy.
